Berthing fees to home

We arrived at Dunmore East at about midday on Monday 26 April intending to stay for a night or two. It's now Wednesday and with gale force 8 winds forecast we have decided to stay tucked up in this nice little bay for shelter. Besides it's a nice little fishing village with lots of pictiresque scenes and views. I phoned the local sailng club the day before arrived to enquire about a space. The very nice gentleman on the other end of the phone said that there were no boats in the water yet so I could take my pick of the moorings. It was a lovely sunny day when we arrived here and picked up a mooring. Two men, one a diver, were checking the moorings, the one in the safety cover boat came over to inform us that they had just checked this mooring and it wa O.K. for us to stay on it. Good choice daddy!

We had a walk around on Monday afternoon. There's a number of sandy bays for kids to play in plus a small park. There's a Londis store plus one or 2 others, a Post Office, a couple of pubs, a restaurant or two and an hotel plus plenty of B&B's. The club only opens on a Sunday. I spoke to the man who owns the yellow boat next to us last night when he came out to check his boat. He suggested that in view of the weather forecast I mght still be here on Friday and that we would be safe here. The people we have met here really are nice.

There's some lovely properties and they all appear to be well maintained, everythings clean and bright as opposed to Waterford and New Ross whilst nice some properties were closed and boarded up or just looked drab. The thatched bungalow just to the right of the second lamp post in the photo to the right is yours for 400,000 euros. Last year it was 750,000 euros.

P.S. The crews still happy and smiling.

Dunmore East sailing club moorings. As you can see it is the height of the sailing season over here and we're a bit crowded.
